2. When should I have a trial?
You can have your trial as soon as you have decided on your dress, colour scheme and other details that are important to you about your wedding. Having your trial as soon as you have decided to have a make-up artist ensures that you are happy with your booking and means it's another thing ticked off your list. However, if you would prefer to do so, you can have your trial nearer to your wedding but it is recommend that you leave it no later than 6 weeks before.
It is important to have your trial in natural daylight so you can see exactly how the makeup will look on your wedding day.
3. Why do I need a make-up artist on my wedding day?
Here are a few of the reasons why people get a make-up artist for their wedding. If any of these apply to you, then it's probably worth having a make-up artist.
- You are unsure what colours to use and how best to apply make-up for the photography
- You want the make-up to last all day
- You would be too nervous on the morning of the wedding to apply your make-up
- You would like to be pampered on the morning of the wedding
4. Do you sell the make-up that you use?
No, Mary Jane is completely independent but at your trial she can let you know what lipstick/gloss she used so you could go to the shops to buy it for topping up on your wedding day.
5. How long will the make-up last for?
Mary Jane uses products that she has had tested for longevity and uses application techniques that will ensure your make-up lasts throughout the day and evening. The only thing you will need to top up is your lipstick or gloss. You may also like to carry a powder compact or blotting tissues, but she will discuss this with you at your trial.
6. What happens at the trial?
Your trial/consultation lasts around 2 hours. First we will discuss the details of your wedding - dresses, hair, flowers, theme etc. We will also discuss what make-up, if any, you normally wear. We will discuss any ideas we both have and then try out a look that we will have talked about. Mary Jane can tweak the look until you are 100% confident with your make-up.
If your bridesmaids, mother or any other guests would like a trial they can have theirs at the same appointment or book an addional appointment. Allow an hour for each extra person at the trial.
At the trial if you would like to book any services for your wedding daywe require a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total on the day cost to secure your wedding date.
7. What happens on the day?
Mary Jane will arrive in plenty of time to set-up so she is ready to start the first person promptly. The timings of your wedding day make-up will be carefully planned in advance to ensure everyone is ready in good time.
Make-up is generally applied after the hair has been styled and I prefer to work on bridesmaids, mums etc first before the bride so the bride is as fresh as possible for the ceremony.
Your bridal or special occasion make-up will take up to an hour and each other person will take around 30 to 45 minutes, but this will be discussed with you well in advance of the occasion.
